Thistle Pipes

Trevor Thistle

Trevor is still “wet behind the ears” when it comes to pipe making (his words). He has been at it for just over five years but his passion and dedication to perfection shine through his work. A native Labradorean, Trevor works as an Urban Forester for the City of Edmonton which gives him intimate knowledge of how wood grows and what to look for in the wood for a great pipe.

Trevor started smoking and making pipes because of his great-grandfather. Although he never knew him, the legend of the man who never was without a pipe was steeped in family tradition. It was this history, and his passion for working with his hands, that started Thistle Pipes.

The act of smoking a pipe slows life down for Trevor, and this is something he cherishes. It gives him time to think and relax with one of his handcrafted masterpieces. He is not alone. Trevor’s pipes command top dollar in the pipe market and he will not put his name on a pipe he is not proud to call a Thistle Pipe – each element is made by him and the leather pouch it comes in is made by his wife. It is truly a family business.

To check out Trevor’s other pipes, visit him on his Facebook page. Also, listen to a podcast of the interview I did with Trevor.
